Flyers Get One-Run Win at Sioux Falls
|
The inspired effort of Sioux Falls second baseman Kent Summey was not enough to prevent a 5-4 loss to the Pennsauken Flyers. Summey hit 2 home runs. Luis Torrez, the winner, improved to 4-1. He held the Red Pandas to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Yue-rong Chen nailed down his 4th save.
Pennsauken used the clutch hitting of Raúl Moreno to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to give the Flyers the lead, 2-0. For the game, Moreno had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Pennsauken manager Jeff Walsh.
The 6th-place Flyers lifted their record to 26-23.
