Rainbow Mermaids Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Voodoo
|
Starting pitcher Miguel Rubia pitched well enough to help the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the New Orleans Voodoo by the score of 4-3. Northern Virginia reliever Yoriyoshi Sugimoto picked up the win to move to 4-0. Jorge Villanueva suffered the loss. The wins continue to add up for Northern Virginia, with the latest making it 7 in a row.
Ryder Ringor was the walk-off hero for Northern Virginia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Rubia said.
