The inspired effort of Augusta shortstop Pat Sizemore was not enough to prevent a 9-7 loss to the Tortolita Drummers. Sizemore went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Andy Fallon, who threw 100 pitches over 6 innings. The Timber Hawks had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Drummers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old shortstop Tsuneari Hirano came to the plate. Hirano hit a run-scoring single on a 2-1 fastball from Augusta hurler Sean Halls. It was Hirano's 50th hit of the year.
