Fighting Dachsunds Edge Past Red Pandas, 7-6
|
Ellenburg withstood an impressive performance by Sioux Falls first baseman Preston Witt to defeat the Red Pandas, 7-6, at The Bamboo Forest. Witt went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Ellenburg reliever Kenko Nakano picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. John Kraan absorbed the loss. Ellenburg is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The result might have been different for Ellenburg, had it not been for Tony Worley, the 23-year old center fielder . Worley stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Ellenburg up, 7-6. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Worley said after the game.
