Flyers Mow Down Coyotes, 9-2
|
The Pennsauken Flyers topped the Hamilton Coyotes by the score of 9-2, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Dana Waldrip. Waldrip went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Flyers. Jesse Duncan, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held the Coyotes to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Willis Pittman earned the save, his 1st, for the Flyers.
Arana Sashi had a big run-scoring triple for the Flyers in the bottom of the third inning. With Pennsauken leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Jeffrey van Veldhuizen and stroked the triple to center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flyers ahead, 2-0.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Sashi, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Pennsauken's record now stands at 13-15, placing them 8th in the Menard's AAA.
