Battery Best Evergreens in Pitching Duel

Charleston and Portland duked it out at Evergreen Park and the Battery came out victorious.
In a tight battle between the Charleston Battery and the Portland Evergreens, pitcher Tony Alfonso was in the zone. The Charleston right-hander was named the player of the game in Charleston's 2-1 win. Kenete Daku recorded the save for Charleston, his 6th of the season.
The outcome might have been different for Charleston, had it not been for Jasper Morrison, the 28-year old right fielder . Morrison stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Charleston up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Alfonso said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The 8th-place Battery lifted their record to 13-14.
