Hines Shines in Stingers Win
|
The Toledo Stingers topped the Kingston Township Knights, 9-2, in Menard's Third League action at Cloverdale Legion Park. The player of the game was Toledo designated hitter Dan Hines. Ángel Silva got the win, improving to 2-2. He held the Knights to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 4. The Knights fall to 5-9 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2038 season.
The result might have been different for Toledo, had it not been for Dean Bush, the 25-year old center fielder . Bush stroked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put Toledo up, 3-0. For the game, he had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
Hines told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
