Ft. Worth third baseman José Corona had 5 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Houston 1837 BBC, 7-4. Gustavo Tobías got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Jack Buyse closed the door for Ft. Worth, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Corona contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Ft. Worth in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Corona took a fastball from Ean Somoza and stroked the home run to right. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Cattlemen to leap in front, 6-3.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Corona said.
Ft. Worth goes to 2-0 with the win.
