Dirty Reds Solve Hotspur, 5-2
|
Though he had a great game, Jonas van Claveren could not single-handedly produce a win for Phoenix. San Mateo won the game, 5-2. van Claveren was named the player of the game. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Yoshii Ikeda converted his 10th save in 12 tries. At 55-50, the Dirty Reds are currently 4th in the Silver League.
San Mateo used the clutch hitting of Sergio Vásquez to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dirty Reds ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I had a good game," said Vásquez. "Winning makes it even better."
