Ramírez Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Philadelphia 1776 in Walk-Off Win
|
Vancouver left fielder José Román had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Román slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Philadelphia 1776 beat the Grey Wolves, 4-3. Román was named the player of the game despite the loss. Philadelphia 1776 reliever José Cotilla picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Hiroaki Kouda shouldered the loss. The Grey Wolves drop to 8-13 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2038 season.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Román Ramírez came to bat in the bottom of the 13th. Facing Vancouver pitcher Hiroaki Kouda, he hit a 1-1 curveball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Philadelphia 1776 on top, 4-3.
Ramírez called the triumph "a good team win."
