Derek Bangert helped his team muscle past the Phoenix Hotspur, 5-4. In the game, the Buffalo first baseman went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Reliever Amberlan Romubio picked up the win. His record improves to 4-2. Rust Cohle took the loss. Buffalo is now 47-46, Phoenix 45-48.
Buffalo took a 5-4 lead on Pedro Álvarez's 21st hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Álvarez hit in the top of the eighth, left Phoenix pitcher Rust Cohle visibly frustrated.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Buffalo manager Chris Lau.
