However, the offensive onslaught wasn't enough for the Gibtown Elephants, who still fell, 8-5. "Sometimes I try to pull the ball too much, so today I just went with the pitch," Barthorpe told reporters after the game. "It's great to get 5 hits, but it would have been nicer to win the ballgame. too." Dean Barthorpe doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
