Hot Bat Cooled, Foote Hitless Against U-21 Saturday, July 4th, 2037 For once, it was the Greenport Harbor Whales picking up the slack for Lucky Foote. The club's "offensive catalyst," as Greenport manager Fernando Mendoza has frequently called him, went uncharacteristically silent today and saw his 28-game hitting streak snapped by the Athletic Club KC U-21. Foote was bailed out by the rest of the Harbor Whales, however, who stopped the U-21, 6-4. The 19-year-old left fielder finished the day 0-for-4, and told reporters at the postgame press conference that "everybody did their job but me." "Not that it was a huge problem -- we still won the game," he said with a grin. "The streak was a good run though. I'll try to start another one tomorrow." For the year Foote is batting .281 with 3 home runs, 23 RBIs and 25 runs scored. |
