Cruz Takes Charge, Blanks Biloxi Wednesday, July 1st, 2037 Jesús Cruz was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Irving Blue Sox hurler tossed a 2-hit, complete game shutout against the Biloxi Shuckers. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Cruz. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Cruz walked 0 and struck out 5 in the 9-0 victory. To date this season Cruz sports a 1-1 mark with a 2.32 ERA in 5 starting assignments.
