Núñes Goes on Rampage Against Humpbacks
Thursday, September 17th, 2037
The Brinkley Belugas stopped the Alaskan Humpbacks by a score of 17-5 at Belugas Ballpark today, with the lion's share of the credit going to starting pitcher John Núñes. The 24-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Núñes said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Núñes did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Humpbacks.
"Not much that I can say," offered Alaskan manager John Carney. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
John Núñes tripled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off William DeWitt in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
In the current season in 7 starts, John Núñes has a record of 1-2 with 29 strikeouts in 38.1 innings and a 3.99 ERA.
