Total Control: Put-In-Bay No-Hit by Pérez
Thursday, July 16th, 2037
The Cape Coral Reefers relied on no-hit stuff from starter Ismael Pérez to defeat the Put-In-Bay BC 2-0 at Put-In-Bay Ballpark today.
"It's quite a thrill," Pérez told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the M3L Single A records, he stopped Put-In-Bay cold and hitless, surrendering 2 walks and fanning 11 of the 28 batters he faced.
Cape Coral manager Willis Crawford was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Pérez "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
Presently Pérez has a 4-2 mark in 6 starts with a 3.24 ERA. He has given up 29 hits in 41.2 innings, struck out 46 and issued 13 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .193 batting average against him.
