Mockingbirds Rally For Late Win Over Bowties
|
The Buckhead Bowties got a superb performance from second baseman Nuygen Vuong. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Mississippi. The Mockingbirds won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Vuong was named the player of the game. He went 2 for 2 with a double and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs. Mississippi reliever Nam Yee Yong was the winner. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was Rick Converse. With the win, Mississippi goes to 40-50, while the Bowties fall to 33-57.
In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 4-4, right fielder Bobby Butterfield won it for Mississippi. With a runner on 1st, Butterfield hit a 1-0 changeup from Roy Bell for a run-scoring double, giving his team a 5-4 win.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Butterfield said after the game.
