Kashani 4-5, Rainbow Mermaids Move to 58-26
|
Northern Virginia third baseman Zahid Kashani had a 4-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Buckhead Bowties, 9-4. Northern Virginia goes to 58-26. The win puts them 8 games up in their division.
Tied up with the Bowties in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids got a boost from shortstop Tony Calhoun. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Calhoun saw a 2-1 fastball from Oscar Kenselaar and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Northern Virginia on top, 3-2.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Calhoun told the Northern Virginia Today. "It's as simple as that."
