Victory Pushes Northern Lions BC Record to 38-37
|
Thunder Bay got a strong outing from Rusty Swanson as the Northern Lions BC defeated the Mississippi Mockingbirds, 5-2, at Magnolia Park. Jim Sison was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 2 save opportunities. Thunder Bay is now 38-37, while Mississippi is 33-42.
The Mockingbirds had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Northern Lions BC going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Domingo Altamiraño came to the plate. Altamiraño hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 changeup from Mississippi hurler Apollo Vermouth. It was Altamiraño's 11th home run of the year.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Altamiraño.
