Victory Over Mockingbirds Takes Oakland to 43-27
|
Oakland center fielder Héctor Velázquez made his presence felt in the 6-2 Oaks triumph over the Mississippi Mockingbirds. Velázquez went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Kevin Nogilny picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 8-3. Mississippi, at 29-41, has lost 4 straight.
Oakland used the timely hitting of Yu-zeng Si to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Oaks ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We looked pretty good up and down," said Oakland manager DAshley GoAs.
