The Houston 1837 BBC knocked off the Phoenix Hotspur, 10-3, at Chase Field. Komotay Koffie, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Houston won. The third baseman was 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The 7th-place 1837 BBC have won 5 straight.
Houston used the clutch hitting of Phil Sherman to capture the win. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the 1837 BBC ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Sherman told the Houston Chronicle.
