Raucous Goodyear Hanger Dome Crowd Propels Blimps to 4-2 Victory; Series Tied at 2
|
The Akron Blimps and the Bethesda Atoms will take the 3L AA Championship to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Blimps beat the Atoms 4-2 at Goodyear Hanger Dome to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Akron right fielder Ernest Franks was named player of the game in the win after he was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
Franks had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a 2-run double. The Blimps went on to win.
After the game, Akron manager Emílio Sáenz applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The next game is scheduled for Sunday at Atoms Field in Bethesda. Slated to start are Jay Cannon for Akron and Joshua Neal for Bethesda.
