Road Win Lifts Bethesda to 2-1 Lead in R1
The Bethesda Atoms went into extra innings against the Akron Blimps but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2 today. The Atoms downed the Blimps at Goodyear Hanger Dome by a score of 5-2. Bethesda right-hander Cristóbal Román was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Atoms a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 3L AA Championship.

Bethesda used the timely hitting of Brian Burt to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Atoms ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Román.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Akron. Slated to start are Kevin Beckman for Bethesda and Anthony Hood for Akron.
