Round 2038 Game 1 Victory for Toepfer and Northern Virginia
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids moved to within one game of the Round 2039 today, downing the visiting Boston Patriots at Atlantica by a score of 3-2. Rainbow Mermaids left-hander Noe Toepfer was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he came in in relief and pitched to 26 batters . The win gives the Rainbow Mermaids a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2038.

Felix Plugge aided the Northern Virginia cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the catcher went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Northern Virginia skipper David Lister.

The next game is scheduled for Sunday. Slated to start are Miguel Rubia for Northern Virginia and Darby Marshall for Boston.
