Alaskan Breaks Through for First Win in PL AAA Championship; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Alaskan Humpbacks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Calgary Lynx, winning 10-5 at Lynx Stadium today. Humpbacks center fielder Pat Pending was named player of the game after he was 2-4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win cuts the deficit facing the Humpbacks to 2-1 in the best-of-5 PL AAA Championship.
Pending had a consequential at-bat in the top of the seventh for the Humpbacks. Coming up with the bases loaded and Alaskan trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run double.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Pending.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Lynx Stadium in Calgary. Slated to start are Rubén Vázquez for Alaskan and Arnie Harper for Calgary.
