The Calgary Lynx started the PL AAA Championship in dominant fashion today, blowing out the host Alaskan Humpbacks at Sea World by a score of 11-1 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Lynx catcher Gustavo Cortéz was named player of the game as he went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4.

Calgary needed the clutch hitting of Derek Corbin to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Lynx on top, 2-0. For the game, Corbin had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Lynx manager Thomas Kemp.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Xiao-shuang Wong for the Calgary Lynx and Jesús Silva for the the Alaskan Humpbacks.
