The South Beach Blaze moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Caldwell Chiefs on the road at Pipers Ballpark by a score of 6-5. Blaze right fielder Frans van Dalen was named player of the game after he went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win gives the Blaze a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-5 PL A Championship.

South Beach needed the clutch hitting of Chad Cowley to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blaze on top, 6-5. For the game, Cowley had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Cowley said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
