Cornelis, Chiefs Sink Blaze Again in Game 2
The Caldwell Chiefs moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting South Beach Blaze at Pipers Ballpark by a score of 8-1. Chiefs designated hitter Harry Cornelis was named player of the game after he went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The win gives the Chiefs a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 PL A Championship.

Cornelis had a clutch at-bat in the bottom of the fourth for the Chiefs. Coming up with a runner on 2nd and Caldwell trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Caldwell manager Hugh Harris.

The next game is set to be played Friday at The Ballpark on the Beach. The scheduled starters for the game are Lloyd Stinson for Caldwell and Noah Walker for South Beach.
