King, Caldwell Start PL A Championship Strong with Home Win
|
The Caldwell Chiefs started the PL A Championship in style today, downing the visiting South Beach Blaze at Pipers Ballpark by a score of 6-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Chiefs catcher Jacob King was named player of the game after he was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
The Chiefs took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Facing South Beach hurler Théo Picard with two outs, King hit a 3-run home run.
"Every team in baseball loses," Blaze manager Vicente Rodríguez said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are William Bruce for the South Beach Blaze and Lloyd Stinson for the the Caldwell Chiefs.
