Silver League Championship Game 1 Victory for Machen and San Mateo
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting New Orleans Voodoo at Lang Park by a score of 4-2. Dirty Reds right-hander Michael Machen was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Dirty Reds a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
With two out in the bottom of the fourth, Paul Tate barreled up a changeup from Gary Ashley. The result was a solo home run, putting the Dirty Reds in front, 2-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said San Mateo manager Dean Ashley.
