Almost There: Portland On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 7-5 Win
|
The Portland Evergreens moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Ft. Worth Cattlemen on the road at The Cattle Pen by a score of 7-5. Evergreens second baseman Jeff Solís was named player of the game after he was 5-6 with a triple and 4 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- United States Premier League Championship.
Solís got the Evergreens off to a quick start. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he hit a run-scoring triple.
"It's a huge change in atmosphere versus last game," Solís said after the win. "I feel like we're back in the mix now. We just can't let up."
