Vancouver Open United States Premier League Championship with Win thanks to Luis Luquín
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves have a critical edge over the Hollywood Shredders in the United States Premier League Championship, thanks to the veteran bat of Luis Luquín.
Luquín, 32, put on a showcase performance at Wolf Den in Vancouver today, leading the Grey Wolves to victory, 4-1, in a pivotal Game . Vancouver is now one game away from the United States Premier League Championship, leading the best-of- series by a margin of - . Hollywood will need to win both remaining games to advance.
The Grey Wolves used some clutch hitting to beat the Shredders, a good example being the at-bat of Ángelo Delgado in the bottom of the second. With two down, Delgado gave his team the lead, 3-1, when he hit a 2-run home run.
Shredders manager Bill Cheese did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the United States Premier League Championship."
