The San Mateo Dirty Reds moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Boston Patriots on the road at Dunkin Donuts Park by a score of 7-6. Dirty Reds right-hander Tom McKee was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Dirty Reds a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
It could have been a different outcome for San Mateo, had it not been for Iván Vega, the two-time Gold Glove winner . Vega contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put San Mateo up, 7-6.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," McKee told reporters after the game.
