Rainbow Mermaids Topple Outlaws with Late Rally
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the Nashville Outlaws, 6-4, at Nashville Stadium. Northern Virginia left fielder Daniel McCoy earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Brewster Warble closed the game out for Northern Virginia, earning his 14th save. Northern Virginia has now won 3 straight, while the Outlaws have lost 3 in a row.
McCoy had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-1 fastball from Yu-eh Mi, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Rainbow Mermaids a 6-4 lead. It was the 17th home run of the year for McCoy.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister.
