The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC picked up a win at Magnolia Park, knocking off the Mississippi Mockingbirds, 5-3. Starting pitcher Rusty Swanson was an essential part of his team's success. The winning pitcher was Swanson, now 3-3. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Peace Addo recorded the save for Thunder Bay, his 1st of the season.
Thunder Bay relied on the hitting of Joe Aller to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Northern Lions BC on top, 4-2. For the game, Aller had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Aller. "And not try to do too much."
The Northern Lions BC raised their record to 26-27.
