Baby Lakers Come Back Late to Clip Elephants
|
The Baby Lakers had to overcome a fine performance from Gibtown pitcher Hyosuke Matsui to grab a 6-2 win at Wrigley Field. Matsui allowed no earned runs over 7.2 innings. Munoto Sato picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-4. He struck out 3 in 7 innings. Earning his 1st save for Bompton was Nikolay Adyrhaev.
Bompton used the timely hitting of Maema Njongmeta to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Baby Lakers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I really like what we did out there today," Njongmeta said after the game.
The 6th-place Elephants have dropped 5 straight games.
