The Amarillo Submarinos trumped the Montgomery Biscuits, 5-3, at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. Amarillo designated hitter Rodrigo Santana was named player of the game for his performance. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Nelson Qudrio got credit for the win, improving to 7-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Ramón Tassis was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Santana contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Amarillo in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Santana took a changeup from Steve Perkins and stroked the home run to right-center. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Submarinos to leap in front, 5-3.
"We're in the driver's seat," said Santana. "I like our chances."
Amarillo improves to 57-31 with the win. They lead their division by 5 games.
