Victory Over Otters Takes Amarillo to 53-30
|
Tulsa second baseman Alfredo Valdéz had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Amarillo at Ballpark of Hughesville. Valdéz went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Paul Love picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-3. He struck out 6 in 5.2 innings. Jesús Bruno earned the save for Amarillo, his 8th of the year.
Amarillo relied on the hitting of Júlio Souza to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Submarinos on top, 2-0. For the game, Souza had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We'll savor this win," Souza told the Amarillo News, "then get ready for the next game."
Amarillo is now 53-30, 3 games up in the Silver R.
