Montgomery starter Toshinobu Nakamura pitched effectively against the Franklin Fire at Lawmen Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 5-4 win. Montgomery reliever Sun Kan was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. José Rivera took the loss for Franklin. Chao Khu, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 18th save.
Montgomery used the timely hitting of Bob Arrington to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Biscuits on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Montgomery manager Félix Cruz.
This loss makes it 8 in a row for Franklin.
