Submarinos Subdue Quebec City, 2-1
|
The Amarillo Submarinos eked out a 2-1 win versus the Quebec City Baby Blues at Terriers Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Fernando Alou, who captured player of the game honors. Kelvin Bowen, credited with the save, is now 3 for 5 in save opportunities. Amarillo goes to 43-27. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
The Submarinos got a big at-bat from left fielder Cristóbal Arteaga. For the game, Arteaga was 1 for 4. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 75th hit of the season gave Amarillo a 2-1 lead.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Alou.
