Outlaws Clip Rainbow Mermaids, 5-4
|
The Nashville Outlaws beat the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 5-4, at Nashville Stadium. The Outlaws got a fine performance from center fielder Juan Caro, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. Yu-eh Mi earned the save for Nashville, his 16th of the year. The Outlaws saw their win-loss record go to 27-17. At the same time, the Rainbow Mermaids fell to 26-18.
Mark Toope was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk for Nashville. The 24-year old right-handed pitcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Kingston Liniak. It was his 17th walk of the season.
"This team is on a mission," said Toope, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
