The Sheridan Deer stopped the Germantown Uruguayans, 3-2, behind an impressive performance from Alfonso López. The 19-year old shortstop made life miserable for Germantown pitching. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. Sheridan reliever Mark Greenwood was credited with the win, to go to 8-1. Brenden Colling took the loss for Germantown. Ludovic Laurent closed it out for his 10th save.
The Deer got a gift in the top of the second inning, when they were leading 1-0. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Alfonso López reached on an error by the C, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-0, Sheridan.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," López said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The 5th-place Deer have won 5 straight.
