Hicksville left-hander Emilio Linger pitched his team to victory over the Germantown Uruguayans at Hound Pound. The final score was 4-2. Linger went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 4-5. Tian-bai Hou earned his 1st save in 1 tries.
The Uruguayans had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Hounds going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old third baseman Juan Alonso came to the plate. Alonso hit a 2-run single on a first pitch fastball from Germantown hurler Wilson Molina. It was Alonso's 28th hit of the year.
Germantown manager John McGrath said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
With the win, the Hounds improved to 20-34.
