Fans who came to Atlantica watched the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and the Buckhead Bowties fight to the finish.

Buckhead left fielder Marcus Shill had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Shill went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Northern Virginia beat the Bowties, 4-3. Shill was named the player of the game despite the loss. Yoriyoshi Sugimoto picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Nand Lal Chaudhary was tagged with the loss.

Scott Dourque was the walk-off hero for Northern Virginia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Dourque told a Northern Virginia Today reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

Buckhead has now lost 6 straight.
