Beavers Lose, 2-1, at The Igloo
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jordon Glen Anderson, who muffled the Ballard offense en route to a tight 2-1 Snowpeople win at The Igloo. Ellesmere Island reliever Javier Téllez picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-1. Masayuki Yamana was collared with the loss. Diyaa Ababneh was called on to finish, recording his 14th save.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Snowpeople sent 17-year-old designated hitter Diego Alejandro Ureña to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Ellesmere Island on top, 2-1.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Ballard skipper Leonardo Sánchez. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
After today's action, Ellesmere Island sits at 27-30, while Ballard falls to 32-25.
