Mississippi Mockingbirds starter Gertjan van Hulst was in fine form against the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at Great Northern Field, leading his team to a 5-3 win. The winner was King Kelly in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Peace Addo took the loss. The 9th-place Mockingbirds improved to 12-22.
Mississippi needed the clutch hitting of Yin-reng Hsueh to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mockingbirds on top, 5-3. For the game, Hsueh had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
