The Franklin Fire picked up a win at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, knocking off the Montgomery Biscuits, 7-4. Starting pitcher José Martínez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 7.1 innings, Martínez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Even with the win, the Fire have a dismal 13-25 record.

The Biscuits had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Fire going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old center fielder Tucker Sanford came to the plate. Sanford hit a run-scoring triple on a full count fastball from Montgomery hurler Hisanobu Yamashita. It was Sanford's 2nd triple of the year.

"It feels good to get this one," Martínez told the Franklin Daily.
