The Tulsa Otters topped the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 4-3, in USSL Rookie action at Ballpark of Hughesville. The player of the game was Tulsa pitcher Ángelo Ruíz. Ruíz picked up the win for Tulsa, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. The save went to Fernando Campos, his 1st this season.
Jorge Díaz had a big run-scoring single for the Otters in the bottom of the third inning. With Tulsa leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Norberto Huerta and stroked the single to right. It was his 7th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Otters ahead, 3-1.
Díaz attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
