Snowpeople Roll to 9-2 Win Over Fire
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople picked up a win at The Igloo, knocking off the Franklin Fire, 9-2. Starting pitcher Darrell Bannatyne played a key role in the triumph. In 7.1 innings, Bannatyne surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Fernando Gonzáles got credit for the save for Ellesmere Island. It was his 2nd of the year.

Tied up with the Fire in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Snowpeople got a boost from designated hitter Diego Alejandro Ureña. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Ureña saw a 1-2 fastball from Biff Pocoroba and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Ellesmere Island on top, 3-1.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Ureña said after the game.

The Snowpeople, at 13-20, sit in 8th place in the Silver R.
