Dean Cox helped his team muscle past the Franklin Fire, 7-4. In the game, the Ballard catcher was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Bob Payne got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. Tim Gregory was credited with the save for Ballard, his 2nd of the season.
Ballard took a 7-4 lead on Cox's 5th hit of the season. The 2-run single, which he hit off Ralph Minor in the top of the eighth, propelled Ballard to the win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Cox, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The win takes Ballard to 9-9.
